OK for the price, limited controls, very short rangeJul 27, 2010 For $20 it's hard to complain. Real RC vehicles are at least 10x that much. Still, I wouldn't buy another one. Sadly, I only learned this after I already bought three of them for different kids. And all three (different models) worked the same and had the same limitations.
The biggest problem is the range - about 10'. It's also intermittent. Once in awhile, it will work from farther away. But it also fails from very close.
It is not powerful enough for most carpets. Works pretty well on hard floors. Even had trouble on asphalt driveway.
It's also loud and annoying. I ended up taking it apart and snipping the wire to the speaker.
All three kids lost interest pretty quickly. It's just not reliable enough for a kid's short attention span. They have too many toys that work every time.
Very DisappointingJul 18, 2010 I bought this toy for my two year old grandson. Not only does it take a rocket scientist and a mechanic just to place the batteries but after a day, apparently it began to kick and sputter. Since I also included brand new name brand batteries, it is apparent this toy is just no good. I should send the thing back but it's not worth spending any more money on shipping. All I can say is beware on this product.
More fun for adults than for the kidJun 23, 2010 My son loves firetrucks so we got this one for him to play with as he has several other automatic trucks. First the sound is really annoying, you'll get used to it but since I have some other automatics, this is most annoying one we have. second, It has a cute wheel that controls it but it only goes in a few directions. Lastly, It has withstood some knocking around and still works so far. 3 stars because our kid doesn't love it - he has a red toy race car that he likes better. (They could make the red on the truck brighter!)
Great toy for little onesJun 09, 2010 This fire truck is perfect for my 18-month-old who always wants to play with his dad's remote control car. My son isn't coordinated enough to use the controls on a regular remote control car but this one is perfect because it just has one button. He can easily run the truck without getting frustrated. The truck is also made of a durable plastic that doesn't scratch walls, cabinets or furniture. Highly recommended.
Doesn't work anymore after 3 monthsJun 08, 2010 My son, who wasn't quite 2 at the time, got this as a gift for Christmas. He wasn't too interested at first but came back to it about 3 months later. Unfortunately, by then it no longer worked. Either the controller or the car shorted out-not sure which. I wrote to the company but got no response. It's too bad because it had potential to be a good toy, it's just made really poorly.
